About Me
I am a pastor, preacher, chaplain, nonprofit leader, grief educator, and grateful follower of Jesus. I believe that every person is deeply loved by God. My ministry is rooted in grace, compassion, justice, and the conviction that the church is called to create spaces where all people know they belong.
I serve as the Executive Director of APNH in New Haven, Connecticut, where I lead one of the state's leading community health organizations serving people living with and vulnerable to HIV, while addressing health equity, food insecurity, prevention, behavioral health, and compassionate care. My professional life has been dedicated to building healthier communities and advocating for those whose voices are too often overlooked for over three and a half decades.
Alongside my work in healthcare, I serves as a pastor and minister in the United Church of Christ, currently as a Member in Discernment. My ministry has included preaching, worship leadership, pastoral care, hospital chaplaincy, grief companioning, and community engagement. Clinical Pastoral Education deepened my love for walking alongside people in moments of crisis, loss, celebration, and transition, reinforcing my belief that ministry is often less about having answers and more about offering presence.
I am passionate about helping individuals, families, congregations, and communities navigate grief with honesty, hope, and compassion. My writing and speaking frequently explore themes of gratitude, recovery, resilience, spiritual formation, and discovering God's presence in everyday life.
My life has been profoundly shaped by long-term recovery. Recovery has taught me the transformative power of grace, honesty, humility, community, and surrender. It is the foundation upon which I have rebuilt my life and continues to shape the way I lead, love, and minister. I believe recovery is not simply about abstaining from substances, but about living with authenticity, practicing gratitude, extending compassion, and discovering that healing is possible one day at a time. That lived experience informs every aspect of my ministry, allowing me to walk alongside others with empathy, hope, and a deep respect for the sacredness of each person's journey.
My sermons are known for weaving together Scripture, humor, personal stories, and practical application, inviting people to encounter the Gospel in ways that are authentic, relevant, and life-giving. Whether preaching from a pulpit, sitting beside a hospital bed, leading a support group, or sharing a meal around a table, my deepest hope is that people leave knowing they are beloved and that God's grace is already at work in their lives.
When I'm not working or serving in ministry, I can usually be found exploring the world with his husband, Ed. Together we live in Watertown, Connecticut, with our two Havanese dogs, Flynn and Colette, who happily keep life full of joy and laughter. I am an avid traveler and adventurer who loves discovering new places, enjoying exceptional food, riding my bike, walking or running along the beach at sunrise or through the streets of a city that I'd like to explore, making homemade ice cream, cooking for family and friends, and practicing daily gratitude. I believe that some of life's holiest moments happen around a dinner table, on a quiet shoreline, or over a scoop of really good ice cream.
Above all, I seeks to live a life that reflects the simple way of Jesus: to love generously, serve humbly, seek justice courageously, and remind people that they are never beyond the reach of God's grace.
